Play Scheme

“The right to play is a child’s first claim on the community. Play is nature’s training for life. No community can infringe that right without doing
deep and enduring harm to the minds and bodies of its citizens”
David Lloyd George (1925)

Play Sufficiency Assessment
(Giving children the opportunity to play)

Gwynedd Council have conducted a play sufficiency assessment to evaluate how much time, facilities and space is available for children to play and socialise within their communities.

The objective is to build up knowledge on children’s play patterns and playing environment in order to

  • protect
  • improve facilities
  • improve the time and space that’s available for children to play

Each Local Authority in Wales is required to carry out a play sufficiency assessment every 3 years.
