John Muir Award

By working towards your John Muir certificate, you would learn about and care for the environment and the natural world, which is fun and adventurous. Anyone can be part of the scheme which is great for groups of friends or families to be part of something together.

There are three different certificates available:

Discovery Award: A challenge for you to find your own wild area, which can be anything from a garden, to a park or mountain!

Inspection Award: After finding your wild area, you have to learn more about it. Look at what animals and plants there are; you can even camp there if you are brave enough! This award involves coming to know your area and gaining experience of it.

As John Muir helped to establish the world’s first national parks, there is a lot of emphasis in this award in protecting your wild area. This can be by reducing litter, tree planting or even carrying out a review of wildlife.
